Moisture mapping is a process utilized to accurately measure the moisture content of a material or surface.

Moisture levels are classified as either acceptable or unacceptable. Acceptable moisture levels indicate a material is sufficiently dry and not prone to issues resulting from excessive moisture.

What is a Normal Moisture Reading for Drywall?

Acceptable moisture levels for drywall vary depending on the type.

**Standard Drywall:**
– Normal moisture content: 10-15%
– Moisture content up to 18% is acceptable in dry environments

**Moisture-Resistant Drywall:**
– Normal moisture content: 5-8%
– Moisture content up to 12% is acceptable

**Water-Resistant Drywall:**
– Normal moisture content: 2-4%
– Moisture content up to 6% is acceptable

**Note:** Exceeding the acceptable moisture levels indicated above can lead to moisture-related issues such as mold, mildew, and structural damage.
